The former King Ang Duong Road or National Road No. 41 from Thnal Toteung, Kandal Province to Chum Kiri District, Kampot Province will be restored and upgraded.

Kampong Speu: The former King Ang Duong Road or National Road No. 41 from Thnal Toteung at the intersection of National Road No. 4 to Chum Kiri District, Kampot Province has reopened and upgraded the quality level with a budget of 67 million USD. The groundbreaking ceremony for National Road No. 41 was presided over by Samdech Techo Hun Sen, Prime Minister of Cambodia, accompanied by Minister of Public Works and Transport Sun Chanthol and attended by the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China. In Cambodia, Mr. Wang Wentian and Ministries, Government Institutions, relevant provincial authorities, national and international guests, citizens, teachers and students.

The ceremony was held in Kong Pisey district, Kampong Speu province on the morning of December 26, 2022. The restoration and upgrading of the quality level under a concessional loan from the Government of the People’s Republic of China.

According to a report by Senior Minister Sun Chanthol, National Road No. 41 or the former King Ang Duong Road, which is under construction to restore and upgrade this quality level, has a total length of 95.27 km, which is a major economic artery. Important across four provinces, including Kandal, Kampong Speu, Takeo and Kampot. This road will connect to major international ports such as Kampot Multi-Purpose Port and the logistics center under construction, Kampot Provincial Tourism Port and the newly built Kep-Koh Tonsay Tourism Port, as well as natural tourism sites. In Sihanoukville, Kep and Kampot provinces along National Road 3, 4, 31 and 33.

The road restoration and improvement project will be carried out by the China Bridge and Road Corporation (CRBC) and technically supervised by Guangzhou Wanan Technical Consulting. The project will be completed during 2026, with a total budget of more than 67 million US dollars, a concessional loan from the Government of the People’s Republic of China, along with a contribution from the Royal Government of Cambodia to address the impact and taxes.

The Senior Minister thanked the people and government of the People’s Republic of China through Wang Wentian for providing concessional loans, such as National Road 41, which is undergoing restoration and upgrading work, as well as grants and technical assistance. In line with the request and needs of Cambodia for the construction, rehabilitation and development of transport infrastructure to promote national economic growth and reduce poverty further.

Taking this opportunity, the Senior Minister highlighted the direction of further work in the development of major road-bridge infrastructure that has been studied and some projects are ready to open more construction sites because the country is completely peaceful. Under the wise and wise leadership of Samdech Techo Prime Minister, who sacrificed both physical and mental strength as well as wisdom in the cause of the nation and the people to achieve the development as it is today.
