CDC Infectious Disease Department Finds Girl With Zika In Kampong Thom

The CDC Department of Infectious Diseases found a 7-year-old girl infected with diabetes at Popec village, Chong Dong commune, Baray district, Kampong Thom province.

According to the official Facebook page of the CDC Department of Infectious Diseases, the girl was admitted to the Baray-Santuk Referral Hospital on September 18, 2023 at 6 p.m. 25 minutes.

According to the CDC Department of Infectious Diseases, the girl’s first symptoms were on September 19, 2023, when she developed a high fever, vomiting and diarrhea. After the doctor treated the girl, she was no longer vomiting and the doctor gave a quick test for dengue fever, but the result was negative.

The next day, on September 19, 2023, the medical team sent the analysis to the Institut Pasteur, and on September 21, 2023, the results showed that the girl was positive for diabetes.

According to the CDC Department of Zika Virus, Zika virus is mainly transmitted by Aedes mosquitoes, which bite mostly during the day. Most people with Zika infection have no symptoms. Symptoms usually include a rash, fever, arthritis, muscle and joint pain, and a headache that lasts 2-7 days.

Zika infection during pregnancy can cause birth defects, microcephaly and other birth defects, as well as premature births and miscarriages.
