Many roads in Samaki Meanchey district, Kampong Chhnang province were damaged by floods during the dry season

Kampong Chhnang: One person was killed and at least 36,200 meters of red gravel and rubber roads and some infrastructure were damaged by the floods of the 2023 dry season in Samaki Meanchey district, Kampong Chhnang province. According to the report of the Samaki Meanchey district governor, Mr. Chhour Channa, on January 20, 2023, the floods of the dry season in the past few weeks have affected nine communes in Samaki Meanchey district. The seven worst affected communes are Tbeng Khpos commune, Svay Chuk commune, Peam commune, Chhean Leung commune, Kraing Lvea commune, Khna Chhmar commune and Svay commune.

Samaki Meanchey district governor confirmed that this year’s dry season floods caused 3,100 meters of flooded paved roads, 2,200 meters long damaged legs, flooded 10 red gravel roads with a length of 33,100 meters. 3,240 meters of broken water, damaged 1 bridge, damaged 3 drainage canals and caused one person to die due to drowning.

The Director of the Department of Rural Development of Kampong Chhnang Province, Mr. Chin Ratha, said this morning, January 20, 2023, that due to the serious situation and affect the lives of the people, the Minister of Rural Development Dr. Ouk Rabun advised technical officers and authorities to work together to repair the paved road and red pavement as soon as possible so that people can travel easily.
