Two demining skills training courses at Kampong Chhnang Mine Action Technical Institute were successfully completed today

Kampong Chhnang: The 143rd generation basic demining training course, which lasted nearly 4 months, and the five-day patrol dog training course at the Kampong Chhnang Mine Action Technical Institute have been successfully completed. The closing ceremony of these two training courses was held on Friday morning, February 10, 2023, under the chairmanship of the Director General of the Cambodian Mine Action Center, Mr. Heng Ratana.

According to Mr. Heng Ratana, the two completed demining skills training courses were one basic demining training course with 115 participants and two. The patrol dog technical training course has 35 participants. The 143rd Basic Mine Action Technical Training Course ran from October 24, 2022 to February 10, 2023 and lasted for 107 days. At the end of this training, all trainees will be sent to complete the battalion structure, technical team at the demining site in various projects of the CMAC Mine Action Units.

In particular, the patrol dog technical training course runs from February 6, 2023 to February 11, 2023, with 35 participants, with patrol dog trainers from Australia and the United States to Exchange experiences on practical technical skills. The training was attended by participants from the National Police, the National Gendarmerie Command, the National Anti-Terrorism Special Forces Command and the Special Forces Command.

In this morning’s ceremony, the Director General of the Cambodian Mine Action Center, Mr. Heng Ratana, also reminded that on February 17, the unit will launch a campaign to find unexploded ordnance. Underwater at Koh Peam Reang, Koh Chek commune, Peam district, Prey Veng province, about 15 kilometers from the Vietnamese border, a ship carrying ammunition sank there. He said that, in fact, the underwater unexploded ordnance (UXO) search campaign has been operating for almost a year since March 2022, but is to search for specific boundaries for the day of the operation. However, CMAC found about 30 tons of unexploded ordnance under water, and an estimated thousands more were submerged.
