Phnom Penh: Heavy traffic congestion at the construction site of the Monivong flyover prompted the Phnom Penh Capital Administration to convene an emergency meeting to find a solution. As a result of the meeting held by the Capital Administration on March 1, 2023, the Phnom Penh Capital Administration issued a number of measures and guidelines to solve traffic congestion, including:
1. Builders need to keep the fence around the site as small as possible to keep traffic flowing.
2. The Phnom Penh Municipal Police, Khan Police Inspectorate and relevant authorities must increase their regular police force to solve traffic congestion when there is heavy traffic.
3. People who are using the sidewalks for sale in order to serve their business must stop using those sidewalks, while the people who are buyers must not stop on the side of the road and the authorities will organize order. Administrative measures for those who still use the street for shopping.
4. The Department of Public Works and Transport of the Capital shall conduct a study on ferrying for people to travel from Koh Nora to Chroy Changvar (Sokha Residence Hotel, Phnom Penh) in addition to the ferry from Koh Nora to Koh Pich.
5. When the traffic is busy, people who can and know how to use the Google Maps App, please use it to help check the traffic congestion at the construction site of the Monivong flyover when you see traffic congestion, choose to use another road if there is an option. .
The Phnom Penh Municipal Administration has requested that people passing through the area be very understanding and tolerant of traffic congestion during the construction of the Monivong flyover.
