Senior officials of the Ministry of Water Resources and Meteorology organize the restoration and management of Stung Svay Chek Basin, taking into account climate change

The consultation, which was held on March 2, 2023, was also attended by representatives of the French Development Agency (AFD), the Department of Water Resources and Meteorology, representatives of the Department of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, representatives of the Department of Industry, Science and Technology. And Innovation, representatives of the Department of Rural Development, representatives of the Department of Environment and local authorities (communes / sangkats in Svay Chek district).

The objectives of the Svay Chek Project consultation study are three main points:

 Component 1: Restoration and management of the Svay Chek Reservoir, taking into account climate change and integrated water resources management (IWRM) and natural resources (NbS).

Component 2: These improvements may include (i) the construction of water intakes to supply existing reservoirs and the construction / rehabilitation of local water networks in rural areas; and (ii) the construction The use of agricultural water for the purpose of developing areas with full irrigation in the future.

 Component 3: Establishment of an integrated river basin committee for better management of water resources, leading to a reduction in inequality in and between use and planning for improvement of water resources. Development of Stung Svay Chek Basin in the future.
