In the first six months of this year, exports of major goods to international markets increased by 0.8% compared to the same period last year

In the first six months of 2023, Cambodia’s exports of major goods to international markets reached more than 11.46 billion US dollars, an increase of 0.8% compared to the same period in 2022. According to a report from the General Department of Customs and Excise of Cambodia, in 2022, it received more than 11.37 billion US dollars from the export of major goods. The increase was noted to indicate a slight rebound in exports after a five-month slump.

A report from the General Department of Customs and Excise of Cambodia showed that trade with international markets from January to June 2023 was worth more than 23.69 billion US dollars, down 13%, of which Cambodia exported goods worth 11 $ 46 billion, up 0.8 percent, while imports were worth more than $ 12 billion, down 22.9 percent from the same period in 2022.

Exports in June 2023 were worth more than $ 2.28 billion, up 16 percent from $ 1.96 billion a year earlier.

Major markets to which Cambodia exported goods include the United States worth more than 4 billion US dollars, down 8.9%, China worth over 713 million US dollars, up 16.6%, and Vietnam over 1 billion US dollars, up 21 percent. Japan was worth more than $ 545 million, up 0.6 percent, Germany was worth more than $ 445 million, down 15.7 percent, Canada was worth more than $ 416 million, down 26.7 percent, and some other major markets.

Cambodia’s exports of garments and accessories made from double or more needles increased by $ 2.4 billion, a decrease of 21.5%, and machinery and electrical appliances increased by more than $ 1.5 billion. 108.7%, clothing and accessories made from two or more needles worth more than $ 1.1 billion, and footwear products more than $ 700 million, down 17.2%.
