Chulkiri District Unity Command Forces Continue to Cooperate to Crack Down on Fishing Crimes Despite Fishing Crimes

Kampong Chhnang: The working group of Chulkiri District Unity Command, in cooperation with the relevant units, continued to crack down on fishery crimes if they were still in their area of control. The operation took place on September 21, 2023, in collaboration with the District Gendarmerie, Chulkiri District Police Force, Peam Chkork Commune Administrative Post, Kompong Prasat Fisheries, Sok Choul Kiri Fisheries and the fishing community. Also located at Veal Sra Nge and Peam Chkork water chief, Peam Chnout village, Tam Chnout commune, Choul Kiri district, Kampong Chhnang province.

  Deputy Governor of Choul Kiri District and District Unity Command, Mr. Muth Meng, who led the crackdown, said that during the operation, the police dismantled illegal fishing nets and destroyed 10 places. With a total length of 3,400 meters, 10 nets, 150 poles and 100 kilograms of small fish were released back into the lake.

In today’s operation, the police used a total of 26 people and a total of 6 small and large knotballs.

The head of the working group of the Chulkiri District Unity Command has urged people to stop fishing with fishing gear, which is prohibited by law.

The crackdown on illegal fishing has been noted in the past in all districts along the river. But in all the crackdown, the authorities have never seen the arrest of the perpetrators, and most of the perpetrators who have the same face every year only after cutting and dismantling all the fishing gear.
