Kampong Thom: The Minister of Information urged journalists in Kampong Thom province to improve their capacity and further strengthen their professional ethics. This warning was made during a meeting with officials of the Information Department in Kampong Thom province on November 3, 2023.
The Minister of Information, Mr. Neth Phatt, praised the results of the work of the civil servants of the Information Department of Kampong Thom Province in the past. The Minister encouraged the information officers to make joint efforts to further develop the information and audio-visual sector in the province in line with the vision set by the Ministry of Information and the Royal Government in the seventh mandate.
Minister Neth Phatt also met with the information officer of Kampong Thom province and set the direction to strengthen the work efficiency of the Information Department of Kampong Thom province to play an important role as the staff of the Provincial Unity Command on information work.
The Minister urged the Information Department to manage the media in the province well to strengthen cooperation in disseminating widely to the people in the province. He advised the journalists to strengthen and continue to participate in the implementation and respect of professional ethics properly to avoid any problems that may occur in the performance of their daily duties as a journalist. Need to further strengthen their own capacity, because the content of information is the main point today.
Minister Neth Pheaktra thanked the journalists for their important role as the media, which brings true and true information to society through the dissemination of factual information and clear sources.
He stressed that the Ministry of Information, as well as the Royal Government of Cambodia, pays close attention to the freedom of the press and the protection of the rights of journalists by providing legal support in case of challenges in performing professional work. Righteousness or professional misconduct is protected by law. He promised that the Ministry of Information will strengthen the capacity training of journalists to jointly strengthen the quality of journalism in Cambodia. He called on all journalists to join the fight against fake news by disseminating real, clear and unbiased information, avoiding the business profession of journalism or exploiting illegal profits.
